My game is a visual depiction of my life. Starting on a farm where I grew up, I found that skateboarding was my way of coping with the small-town mentality and boredom that came with living in a population of 5,000. Through skateboarding, I found friendships that have lasted beyond college and new ones in the city that carry into my professional career. Within this community though, I've also had to navigate a culture that exposed me to drugs and alcohol. Forcing me to figure out how to tackle these things responsibly. Through it all, I've leaned on skateboarding to overcome hardships, take my mind off of stressful situations, and explore new areas.

I wanted the design of my game to be nostalgic, creating a setting that reminds the player of their youth. The colors are vibrant, and the scenes are simplistic with bubbly clouds in the sky. The purpose of scene one is for the audience to experience finding skateboarding just as I did.

Scene two showcases the different outside forces that influence teenage skateboarders like myself into trying alcohol or drugs. With each one coming directly at you, the player must navigate through the obstacle course to get to the end of the road.

Scene three is the final scene of my current story. After moving from the farm, navigating skateboard culture, and going to college. I decided to move to NYC. I'm still learning what it means to be from a small town and living in a major city but I'm so fortunate to be here and wouldn't have wanted it any other way.

Overall, I'm happy with how my game turned out. I think it tells the story of my life in a compelling way. In the future, I'd like to add dialogue to my character and also push the trickiness of the game further. This was a good start, to learn the components necessary to build a beginning, middle, and end of a game but I'd like to build something that is fun to play more than once. It would be cool to add skateboard tricks or a feature where you dig for the skateboard or a game involving the NYC subway trains to add to the fun.
