Design Process
Going into this project, I had to combine three completely different forms of life: an eagle, a cute monster, and a human. Each with their own look but together work somewhat cohesively. The white from the eagle complements the claws and details of the monster. Going further down the portrait, the bottom of the monster’s belly resembles a kind of dress or skirt that the human legs flow out of nicely. I wanted to keep the code simple to get a real understanding of functions, parameters, and arguments. Using PNG files for the head, body, and legs, I was easily able to create three separate functions for each and then utilize arguments to adjust the position to where I wanted it. Behind my creature, I wanted to create a backdrop that gave the piece some color. I utilized three different shapes to mimic the variation of body parts and then tied it up with a solid blue background.
This creature, known as an Eagumster, is what you actually find at the end of a rainbow. It’s rare, it’s unordinary and it’s extremely creative at not being detected.
Overall, this project was really fun from a collaborative perspective. I loved seeing how different all of my partner’s designs were while also seeing how well they worked together in our newly combined piece of art.
